Designing, Run and Debug are free — in the beta and for ever

Free to build with.
A licence is for shipping.

Designing, Run and Debug cost nothing and always will — that is the loop you actually work in, all day, on any number of Macs. What a licence buys is turning a project into an application. And whatever you build costs your customers nothing, for ever.

What is free, and stays free

This is not a trial that runs out. It is the part of Neuridion that never needs a key, in any version, for anybody.

Test build — an unsigned .app on this MacLicenceLicence
Release build — signed, notarised, for somebody elseLicenceLicence

One thing comes from Apple, not from us: a release build is signed and notarized with your own Developer ID, which needs Apple's Developer Program (about 99 € a year, paid to Apple). A test build signs ad-hoc and needs no Apple account — it runs on your own Mac.

Which is why schools need nothing from us. Designing, Run and Debug are the whole classroom loop — a pupil draws the schema, presses ▶︎, and the application opens and works, with the debugger, the reports and the data browser all there. That is a full term's teaching on every machine in the room, without a key, without registering, and without anybody having to ask us for anything.

Building an application is the line, and it is one line rather than two (changed 21 August 2026). A test build used to be free as well. It is not any more, and the reason is honesty: an unsigned .app runs on any Mac whose owner right-clicks it once, so “test builds are free” quietly meant “shipping is free if you do not mind the warning”. Either building is what a licence is for, or it is not.

Everything above, plus the Client/Server build — the tick box that turns one application into a server and the clients that talk to it.

  • Everything in Neuridion
  • Client/Server builds
  • Unlimited seats — nothing to count, nothing to declare
  • Record locking, one shared database
  • The server distributes the client itself
Unlimited seats is not generosity — it is the only honest option. Counting seats would mean a number from the licence living inside a server you shipped, and the day that number is wrong the failure lands at your customer's customer. We said no licence check in what you build, and we meant every word of it. So there is nothing to count, and nothing to explain to your client.

How the licence behaves

Four sentences, and none of them has a trapdoor.

Stop paying, and what you shipped keeps running

Every application you have already built runs for ever and never checks a licence — that is the promise, untouched. The IDE keeps designing, running and debugging with no key; what waits until you renew is making a new build. You rent the workshop, never the things you make in it.

Your price does not move

Whatever the price was when you signed up stays your price, as long as the subscription runs without a gap. We do not have to build anything to keep that promise — our payment provider behaves that way by itself.

Updates are included while it runs

Every version released during your twelve months is yours, and yours for ever after. Neuridion tells you when a new one is out and says plainly whether it is covered by your licence — no surprise paywall halfway through an update.

One rule you can break

Build for your own customers, as many as you like. What is not allowed is acting as a build service for other developers who have no licence — taking their projects and handing back finished applications. Nothing else here can cost you your licence.

Neuridion 0.9.2 Beta

Free, complete, and no account to create. Open one of the example projects on your first launch — Harbour Supply ships with all 7,628 of its invoices, so there is something real to take apart.

Please read before downloading. 0.9.2 is a preview. Until 1.0 the project format can still change — there are deliberately no compatibility shims — and names in the scripting API can still change. A project you create today may not open in a later version. Take it to try out, to learn, and to have a say in where it goes — not for the data your business depends on.
